World of Discovery Level C Set 1

WS Education 精心策畫World of Discovery (探索世界) 系列讀物，全套共51冊，根據不同的閱讀能力分為三個等級：A (Achieving 達成), B (Blooming 增進), C (Confident自信) ，讓孩子從有趣的閱讀體驗中認識亞洲以及探索STEM（科學、技術、工程和數學）。

本系列由新加坡國立教育學院(NIE)英文系退休教授 Ruth YL Wong 博士指導，適合3至8歲及以上的孩子閱讀，書中提供說故事的指南與單詞解釋詞彙表，適合家庭、學校和公共圖書館，從有趣的閱讀中認識英文詞彙，並提升孩子對兒童對科學探索與認識全球多元文化。

Level C (Confident 自信)
Level C適用對閱讀有信心的小讀者，他們能夠獨立讀出書中至少90%的單詞，及閱讀較長的句子和文章。這三套的故事旨在向小讀者介紹科技，鼓勵他們想像、探索自然、科學發明。

Level C 分為三套書共有12冊，本書預期可以讀者達成以下目標：
• 可以指出朗讀的單詞
• 讀出至少 90% 的單詞
• 閱讀更長的句子和更長的文本
• 享受閱讀
• 獨立閱讀


The World of Discovery Collection is a specially curated selection of children's books that focus on discovering Asia and discovering STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths). Under the guidance of Dr Ruth Y L Wong, these books aim to promote reading for pleasure, while exciting kids through discovery. With 51 books in this inaugural batch, and with more to come, the books are divided into three levels depending on the child's reading ability: A (Achieving), B (Blooming) and C (Confident). Level C Set 1 features seven titles, exploring themes of science, imagination, nature and global stories.

Intended outcomes of Level C include teaching children to be able to:

point to the words as they are read aloud
sound out at least 90% of the words
read longer sentences and longer texts
enjoy being read to
engage in independent reading
Each book includes a story-based activity at the end of the books to help parents and educators get children to engage with the story.

1. Stories of Amazing Discoveries (The First of Everything series)

2. Stories of How We Got Comfortable (The First of Everything series)
Who discovered coffee? Who wore the first clothes? Who was the first couch potato? Read these five stories of how people made life in the past more comfortable and find the answers to these questions!

3. Stories of How We Sent Stuff Around (The First of Everything series)
Who sent the first instant message? When did we start having newspapers? Who delivered the first airmail parcel? Read these five stories of how we sent stuff around the world and find the answers to these questions!

4. Stories of How We Captured the Past (The First of Everything series)
Who was the first printer? Who took the first photo? What was the first recorded song? Read these five stories of how we learned to capture the past and find the answers to these questions!

5. Stories of Clever Inventions (The First of Everything series)
Who invented the toilet? What did the first vending machine sell? Who made the first chocolate chip cookies? Read these five stories of clever inventions and find the answers to these questions!

6. Stories About How We Lived (The First of Everything series)
Who built the first city? Who made the first weighing scales? Who created the first laws? Read these five stories of how we lived in the past and find the answers to these questions!

7. Stories of What People Did for Fun (The First of Everything series)
Who was the first artist? What was the first dance? Who wrote the first song? Read these five stories of what people in the past did for fun and find the answers to these questions!
