《計算機系列教材?信息技術專業英語(第2版)》旨在提高讀者閱讀理解、翻譯和專業英語寫作的基本應用能力和以英語為工具獲取交流信息的專業技術。全書在體例上以單元來劃分。每個單元的第一部分都由課文、單詞和詞組、專業術語、注釋、練習和閱讀材料組成。第二部分增加了專業英語的閱讀理解、翻譯和初步寫作知識。每兩個單元后附有一套自我測試題，并附有課文參考譯文。全書知識覆蓋面寬，并注意題材的新穎和多樣性，自我測試題前補充了計算機軟件人員水平考試中的專業英語試題解析，通俗易懂，盡量使學生達到學用結合的目的。
