Electric system reliability
Adequacy and security of electricity. Adequacy means there are generationand transmission resources available to meet projected electrical demandplus reserves for contingencies. Security means the system has sufficientoperating capacity even after outages or other equipment failure.

Electric transportation technology
As defined in the ARRA Section 1306 amending EISA 2007 (EnergyIndependence and Security Act of 2007), any electric motor technologythat provides some or all the motive power for a vehicle, including BEVs(Battery Electric Vehicles), EVs (Electric Vehicles), PHEVs (Plugin HybridElectric Vehicles), and fuel cell EVs, for personal or mass transit.

Electric utility
An entity that generates, transmits, or distributes electricity and recoversthe cost of its generation, transmission or distribution assets, andoperations through cost-based rates set by a separate regulatory authority.Utilities may be investor-owned, owned by a governmental unit (federal,municipal, or district), or owned by the consumers that the entity serves. Itis also known as an electric power system.
