This resource for grade 3-5 teachers provides guidelines on implementing the Common Core State Standards (CCSS) for math within the context of a professional learning community's collaborative framework. After an overview of common issues in using high-performing collaborative teams for mathematics, chapters cover implementing the CCSS for mathematical practice, the Common Core mathematics content in the curriculum, the teaching-assessing-learning cycle, and RTI in math classrooms. In addition to many checklists, summary tables, and practice boxes, the guide offers an appendix of standards for mathematical content for grades 3-5 and a review of changes in math standards from 1989 to 2010. He has authored numerous articles and chapters on school leadership and development for education publications over the past decade.Dr. Kanold received the prestigious international 2010 Damen Award for outstanding contributions to the leadership field of education from Loyola University Chicago, 1986 Presidential Award for Excellence in Mathematics and Science Teaching, and 1994 Outstanding Administrator Award (from the Illinois State Board of Education).
