While the main focus is on relations between Europeans and South Asia, other parts of the world have also been discussed in detail. In this volume Sanjay Subrahmanyam critically analyses the archival data to challenge certain enduring beliefs regarding temporal and geographical frontiers in the task of history writing. He questions old debates and examines hitherto neglected aspects of South and Southeast Asian history.

作者簡介
Sanjay Subrahmanyam is Professor, Department of History, Centre for India and South Asia, University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), USA. He is also former Professor of Indian History and Culture, University of Oxford and former professor of economic history, Delhi School of Economics. Also, taught at Paris as Directeur d'etudes in the Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales.
