In order to achieve this, and stay ahead of the competition, fashion buyers must accurately track and predict the latest trends, colours, styles and brands that will have commercial appeal. David Shaw, with over 20 years' experience as a fashion buyer, leads readers through this exciting and multifaceted profession.

Each chapter features an interview with a successful fashion professional, which helps readers to put the contents of the chapter into context and perspective; as well as a business case study that provides a real-world example of the activities described. 作者簡介

David Shaw has worked in fashion buying for over 20 years for some of the UK’s most famous high street fashion retailers. Starting on the shop floor of British Home Stores, he progressed to senior executive and director in buying and merchandising for Debenhams, Burton Menswear, Topshop, Dorothy Perkins, Principles, Sears, Dolcis, Saxone and Bertie. Unusually, his career has spanned buying men’s, women’s and children’s clothing, as well as shoes and accessories. He is now an academic, consultant trainer and writer on fashion retailing and marketing.?

He has lectured at the London College of Fashion, Nottingham Trent University, Middlesex University, University of Surrey, Northumbria University and The Institute Marangoni in the UK, as well as the Dublin Institute of Technology and Macquarie University, Sydney. He has been a pioneer of several of the first fashion buying courses created and has always believed that putting theory into practice must be preceded by firstly putting practice into theory. He is also a dedicated supporter of the UK charity shop sector, currently acting as a volunteer director of Mind charity shops.
