Taking each Confederate cabinet post in turn, Peterson writes about the lives and work of secretaries who served in the Confederate States of America government from the time it came into being in February 1861 to the end of the War Between the States and the return of the rebellious states to the US. The cabinet members had seats in the Senate and could enter into floor debate, though they could not vote, and Congress could not make appropriations to departments unless department heads requested them through the president. 作者簡介
Dennis L. Peterson is an historian and editor with numerous articles published in journals and magazines. A former history teacher, his areas of interest include Southern history, the Civil War, the Great Depression and World War II. He lives in Taylors, South Carolina.
