Of Irish/Welsh descent, David joined the Royal Air Force and was posted to NATO Norway, where he stayed. He has worked as a Mountain Guide/Instructor, and in the outdoor and travel industry.
He has travelled and climbed worldwide, with a special emphasis on Nepal - organising and leading climbing and trekking groups over 45 years.
